End of Year

i am rushing 

rushing before the bell

rings, the curtain wraps

around an ending

the pear I began painting

remains half finished

waiting for a stem

my daily words to live by

bookmark marks a date

three weeks ago 

then a letter i intended

to answer remains

in the same place on my desk

the bank statements starting 

in 2013 bloat a three ring binder

and only a week to clean-up,

finish half done promises
