give me those old time hymns

the kind that makes you move

raise your arms, stomp your feet

and listen to the preacher

who looks down at his open bible

and knows he’s there to save souls—

back in the day i heard the word 

of a radio preacher who sold

prayer rugs, small pieces of cloth,

relics he prayed over 

always wanted to buy one

but bought a recorder instead

and tried to learn to play
