I Recall

Do I remember the aroma

of chestnuts or do I only

recall the brown bag

sold by the vendor in front

of the Museum of Modern Art

In the winter the chestnuts

warmed my hands as I

tossed them from hand to hand

Now I recall that when I opened

the bag there was a fragrance,

the aroma of street food
