New Experience

What did I expect 

and what questions 

did I fail to ask 

when they wheeled 

me into the room

where an anesthetist 

asked me if I had any

removal dentures 

Just crowns, one brand new

I handed my two affirmations

to the assistant and started

saying my mantra to myself

until my words elongated

and all went silent
