Once upon a time,
isn’t that the way stories begin
just dropping you into the middle
forgetting that you want to start
way back, back to when stepping on cracks
meant bad luck, and night lights kept the ghosts
away, and the librarian knew you loved
books that took you to lands no
cartographer ever mapped
Once upon a time lives
on a time line that
ends with a period.
