Creation

          Water flows over these hands
          May I use them skillfully
          as I construct and shape this day

I stand at the bathroom sink
and let water run through my fingers,
hold my palms together
and watch while the water fills
and overflows my cupped hands
I taste the water before my day begins,
before my day is shaped
