The Hot Summer

It's hot, sticky, close
and I  monitor
the thermometer plastered
on the glass door
I wait for the red mark
to descend
I check the extended
forecast, read the real feel
numbers and the dew point
It's not over according to the pundits
Next week more sultry weather
with dew points in the oppressive range.
