An Enigma

time, that enigmatic place we live,
slips back into other tenses--
unfold the past ,hold it to the light,
it lacks marrow, is transparent
can't be held or touched
only recalled

time, shows up, enters uninvited,
reminds me that the present
becomes past the moment it happens
