Repetition
I watch waves cover brown rockweed
and then return to the sea.
A constant refrain.
A seagull passes, lands, and stares.
A lobsterman hauls in a trap,
checks the lobster's length.
I eat my peanuts and read my book.
Soon I'll walk to the cobblestone beach.
Here the ocean tumbled rocks
until edges turned smooth. All
roughness polished away by waves.
and then return to the sea.
A constant refrain.
A seagull passes, lands, and stares.
A lobsterman hauls in a trap,
checks the lobster's length.
I eat my peanuts and read my book.
Soon I'll walk to the cobblestone beach.
Here the ocean tumbled rocks
until edges turned smooth. All
roughness polished away by waves.
